It’s March!

It’s March, and we’re approaching the midway point of the semester. But before that, we have some exciting events for this month, with our amazing guest speaker, all the way from MICA, Ellen Lupton!

As a side note, March 9th to 15th is Spring Break! So rest up and enjoy your week off from school!

Ellen Lupton Workshop

Join Ellen Lupton on Mar. 5th from 3-4 pm in Rm 365. Participants will explore the science and aesthetics of scent. They visualise a unique scent using hands-on art materials, then scan their artwork and create a unique package design.

How to Fall in Love with Typography: Ellen Lupton

Join UNT AIGA for an inspiring lecture with renowned designer, educator, and author Ellen Lupton. There will be a speaker presentation, book signing and Q&A! Save the date for Mar. 5th 7-9 pm at the UNT Union’s Jade Ballroom, Rm 333.

This month, we’re featuring Ellen Lupton! We’re very lucky to have her as a guest speaker for AIGA, and we hope you’ll join her at her lecture and book signing!

Ellen Lupton is a renowned writer, designer, curator, and educator at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (MICA). She has authored and co-authored numerous graphic design books, including some of the textbooks for typography you may have used early on as a student! She currently teaches graphic design at MICA and works as a curator for the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City.

Gain worldwide recognition for your work by entering the most prestigious juried competitions in visual communications. Enter your creative student work into the Comm Arts 2026 Competition. There are several categories, including: Design, Photography, Advertising, and more! For student work, the fees are $20 for three images and $45 for a single video.

Visit Dallas’ Soul Food Expo on Mar. 22nd at 12:00 pm, with over 30 vendors from Dallas, Houston, and more! General admission is $5-$10 and food ranges from $10-$30.

Dallas Art Book Fair

Free to the public and brings together regional, national, and international artists, presses, publishers, galleries, and bookstores for a celebration of print culture.
